The researchers found increases in diabetes in both data sets, though the relative rates were quite different: they found a 2.6-fold increase in new diabetes cases among children in one, and a smaller 30 percent increase in another.

“Even a 30 percent increase is a big increase in risk,” said Sharon Saydah, a researcher at the C.D.C. and lead author of the study. The differences likely result from different ways of classifying children as having Covid, she added.

Dr. Saydah said it was not yet clear whether post-Covid diabetes would be a chronic condition in these children, or a transient condition that resolves. Most of the children were only followed about four and a half months.

The finding underscores the importance of vaccinating all eligible children against Covid, she added, and using measures like masking and distancing, especially to protect the youngest, who cannot yet be vaccinated.

I would argue they certainly aren't Christian in the sense of following the teachings of Jesus, but pagan probably isn't the right term.  I think white nationalist better sums it up.

 

It's interesting to consider Katharine Hayhoe - she's an adroit public figure in climate science who focuses on bridge gaps with conservatives.  She identifies as an Evangelical Christian which makes one wonder about what she things of what it's become.

Every part of the health-care system has been affected, diminishing the quality of care for all patients. A lack of pharmacists and outpatient clinicians makes it harder for people to get tests, vaccines, and even medications; as a result, more patients are ending up in the hospital with chronic-disease flare-ups. There aren’t enough paramedics, making it more difficult for people to get to the hospital at all. Lab technicians are falling ill, which means that COVID-test results (and medical-test results in general) are taking longer to come back. Respiratory therapists are in short supply, making it harder to ventilate patients who need oxygen. Facilities that provide post-acute care are being hammered, which means that many groups of patients—those who need long-term care, dialysis, or care for addiction or mental-health problems—cannot be discharged from hospitals, because there’s nowhere to send them.

A remembrance of Christine Grant and her impact on Title IX and women's sport.

Since the introduction of Title IX, women's sports in high school and college have grown by about an order of magnitude.

Separately there's the issue of what a category in a sport means as well as "balancing" inclusion, fairness and safety.  It's only briefly mentioned in the piece, but the inclusion of trans-women is highly changed politically even though there's serious evidence trans-women retain much of the strength advantage of males. Reducing testosterone levels doesn't have a big impact. Many governing bodies are prioritizing inclusion rather than fairness and many women in sports are afraid to speak out.  It's one of those odd situations where I am in agreement with the right wing - but for very different reasons.
