We expect consistency from our highest court, but their recent landmark decisions undermines this foundational judicial principle.

In Dobbs, SCOTUS blocked a national right to abortion, partly because a woman could freely (if inconveniently) travel to an adjacent state for the procedure.

In Kennedy v Bremerton the Justices moved the goal line ten yards closer to unfettered religious deference. But they could just as easily instructed the coach to wait a half hour and pray freely after the game. Again, a mere inconvenience.

Situational logic. No wonder trust in our highest court is slipping.
