The once heavily marketed couch potato web solution, more recently called MSN TV, is now back in a broadband version.
There are still people who use the service - it would be interesting to see why (I'm not saying there aren't good reasons - I'm just curious)
i'm embarrassed to admit i'm actually seriously considering purchasing one of these. i was pervesely fond of the original WebTV. i felt they'd done an awful lot right in taking a web browser and putting it on a television: the use of audio cues in the UI, the fact that they were the first browser to include antialiased text (a necessity on televisions and now a standard part of pretty much every GUI), the sensible idea that web browsing ought to be something you could reasonably integrate with TV viewing. the lack of broadband kept me from getting the original one. i probably won't be able to resist this version, even though i don't actually have a real use for it.
