Trek has introduced their Shift series for adults who haven't ridden a bike in decades and who might appreciate a very smooth and comfortable ride and a very stable design. They also are very robust and can carry riders up to 350 pounds - many bikes are only good for 200 to 250 pounds (some of the road bikes are more like 175) and many riders come in above those numbers.
So if you haven't been on a bike in many years and have been thinking about one for exercise and sort distance transportation, this may be one to consider. (I'm very happy seeing new non racing bikes appearing in the US - the choices are getting much better)
