Distributed crowd sourced radation measurements - very useful when something breaks as happened in Japan.
I'd like to see an approach that monitored many more environmental factors - radiation can be important, but most of the time in most areas it is not a risk compared to others we live with day in and day out. There are some real problems to solve - inexpensive enough kit that is well calibrated is non-trivial for many classes of measurement.
