Government is another variable for farmers - in the short term it seems likely to get worse. In the medium terms, thanks to weather extremes virtually guaranteed by global warming, it will get much worse.
I'd like to see non food drops excluded from the Federal Crop Insurance Program and some support that would encourage a move towards more produce.
