Surprising to me .. of course we burn much more energy per capita than most other countries. Then again, Americans are very high consumers of both energy and stuff and tend towards inefficiency. There is fantastic potential for conservation and efficiency in the US, but that is currently painted as patriotic in many courses and signals to the public put consumption on overdrive. We've trained our citizens to be good little consumers of stuff...
