A regular reader of this blog asked that I listen to this piece on the history of doubt and religion. On Being is an America Public Media show that focuses on religion - a subject that doesn't concern me much other than a worry about it being imposed on others and, or taking away the rights of others...
The program is an interview with Jennifer Michael Hecht and I listened to the edited broadcast version during a recent rowing session. The page has a link to that interview as well as a summary and a transcript (how nice and professional of them - they must have a non-trivial budget).
Depending on how you prefer to consume an hour audio piece I recommend the audio version or the transcript as being interesting. I am not in full agreement, but I certainly see the need to community ceremony and see that among the current generation that has a reasonable percentage of a-religious people (the fastest growing segment of "religion" even though a-something is not really in the set of something)
