A few people sent this link on the end of football as we know it in light of some recent suicides...
I suspect helmet mounted accelerometers will become mandatory in high school and possibly college in the next few years. The tech is easy, inexpensive and available now. I also suspect legal agreements that attempt to prevent any form of lawsuits - particularly in high school. But as the article notes there are going to be a few very large suits - $20 million or more - and people will ask the question "what happens to the tax base and my property value if one of these happens here?" Less likely is a dramatic drop in boys willing to play as teens and 20 year olds tend to feel invincible.
The only way out is probably rather dramatic rule changes. One wonders how many would watch a less violent game?
I'm wondering if football injuries could be responsible for this and this.
