Amateur astronomer Rolf Wahl Olsen was able to photograph a forming solar system. At first it might not seem an impossible task as this one is the proto solar system that is forming around Beta Pictoris - a well known early discovery of such a system. What makes this impressive is Rolf did it with his 10 inch aperature telescope.
Of course it helped him to know exactly what he was looking for and some of its characteristics, but it is still a remarkable achievement!
