About a month ago we pointed to work on curveballs in baseball - why is it they seem to "break". The physics is straightforward and they follow a smooth trajectory. The interesting piece is how our perception works - we have two vision systems that lose registration when you move from one to the other. The breaking ball is just an illusion, but is something that can confound a batter.
