Today is Trek day for Colleen - she will take delivery of the bike they have created for her. She tries to convince people that bikes and walking are often excellent alternatives for short trips - those under five miles or so. It isn't a popular message, but there are many positive benefits.
Colleen's issue with bikes is her height - here she is on the tallest bike from a very large bike shop that was adjusted for maximum height. The frame is still too short for her legs. Trek had her measured and did the engineering to make a larger frame that will still ride well. This may ultimately become a product line for tall people. But even if you are in the normal height range there is enough variability in leg, torso and arm length for a given height that it makes a lot of sense to visit a good bike shop and have something fitted and then adjusted to your proportions. Think of it as getting a suit and having the final tailoring done.
