power use and the new imac

The iMac is a 24" 2.93 Intel Core 2 Duo model with 4 GB RAM and a NVIDIA GT 130 graphics card - otherwise vanilla.

Using it with normal screen brightness on a variety of tasks I see anywhere from 93 to 108 watts with an average for lightweight use of about 98 watts.  Not too bad considering the size of the screen.  Sleep is about 1 watt (!).  

100 watts isn't too different from the average power consumption of a human.  2400 watt-hours of energy is about 2062 food calories.  My energy requirement is closer to 2500 calories a day or about 2900 watt-hrs - an average power level of about 120 watts.  Colleen, in training, is between 4000 and 6000 calories a day..  190 to 290 watts.
