So AT&T lowered the monthly price of its well rated VoIP offering to $30 and Vonage countered by dropping its unlimited price to $25. Curious - it seems a bit early as both are chasing a universe of fewer than two million customers by mid next year. Is there black ink for any of the players or is Andrew correct when he says ~"a killer app is necessarily profitable ... consider email..."
I've spent some time looking at and modeling this and have come to the conclusion that real near-term expansion comes elsewhere. Mobile still trumps all at the moment. To first order the segments for this sort of VoIP (this isn't the only one!) are not clear sells. It is also sad that most of the phone line replacement VoIP competitors are competing mostly on price.
Anyway ... back to my audio/text chat on iChat AV...
