ipods on the cheap
Many iPod clones are beginning to make it to market nominally with lower price points. Every new player that I've seen tested, or that I've tired, comes up short by comparison. Fit and finish, interface, music quality, etc.
If you really want one and the $299 entry point is too high, read this note from Amy (a regular reader and a freshman at Reed)
My refurbished 10G iPod arrived today. It looks perfect and came with a one year warranty. It only cost $169 on the Apple Store. I'm so happy!!!
The refurbished units are quite good - I would recommend something like this over anything else I've seen if you need to save a few bucks and don't want to compromise on quality. Go to the Apple Store and look under the special deals section.
My iPod is one of the 5GB originals and is going strong after nearly 2 years of continuous use. I would still rate it as one of my favorite possessions and was worth every cent and then some. A new 10GB player for $299 is an excellent value and a refurbished unit for $169 borders on being a steal.
I got one of the 10GB refurbished iPods for $169 from Apple and it rocks. All of the other disk mp3 players are imposters and everyone knows it. Even my 11 year old sister knows what an iPod is. So does my girlfriend and she wants one too.

I just checked the apple store and they don't have $169 refurbished ipods. they do have $229 refurbished new generation 10G ipods though. one year warranty and that is enough for me to order one. saving $70 for what is the same thing, but checked out is ok with me. I can get much better deals on ebay, but I would rather buy something with a warranty.
I was thinking about a dell player until I tried one. there is something that just isn't right about them and they reek bad quality. there are many other players, but the ones I've seen aren't as good as the ipod and don't have the style. if I'm paying over $200 for a player I need something I love.
my friend cindy has an ibook and I think I'll get one of those because my hp pc is all screwed up and cindy's ibook is so much better.

Beware of matrix sites!! ON ebay if u search for ipod it comes up with pages of people telling you how to get ipods for £20 etc. The websites normally let you buy a cd or signal bossters for your mobile and add you to a list for i pods, phones and playstations etc. However to actually get one you haave to wait for years! NO exaggeration. The only way to actually get it to work for you is if u get wright at the top of a list. Just whatever you do don't be stupid enough to pay money for the info on ebay cus you can find it for free in lotsa places and it isnt actually that great !!
