Quite a corporate slogan for a company that claims to be an open music label.
I've been listening to Magnatune for a few months and can give a recommendation.
They have a few hundred mp3s to audition and, if you like what you hear, music starts at about five bucks per downloaded album. The good thing is that artists get to keep 50% of the take and keep rights to the music (some other online services offer good deals too -- iTunes is offering about 65% to the self represented indie artist and allows them to keep rights).
Some of the musicians are a bit obscure, but the classical section has more than a few items of interest. I recommend listening to their mp3 streaming "stations" as an introduction. Most of it is pretty good and there are a few real gems (I have been disappointed with classical music from many of the majors of late. They are trying to sell sex and images rather than music).
Musicians and listeners are beginning to get options.
